I don't have anything more to say other than thanks to all and hope to stay in touch through the year!! I am excited to show the direction I take in the fall:)
Also.... Linda, does this give me extra credit because I have one more blog??????
These are my folks from Mifflin! If I haven't already introduced you to them, they are taking Hope's class for grad credit.... one week... three credits...WOW.

This is one of my drawing projects that had to consist of 12 or more hours of documentation.... I documented my steps and thoughts for 12 hours of my day and displayed them on all sizes of wood planks.... 12 hours of documenting my thoughts was not exhausting but kind of therapeutic:)
This isn't a great pic of piece but this is 1st year Eric's piece. He explained that each of the heads and bottles represented a person that influenced him in art..... the string connects them as they have been in life... if they passed away the string was cut short.....the long tubed neck one is his sister.. she's a dentist:)

The artists that Kevin and Erica had suggested are George Ohr and Ann Marie Laurey....
This may be George.... and if so his work is just as interesting as he is ....
Ann's website is http://www.annemarielaureys.com/work/
hopefully the website will work... if not check it out.. her work is actually very "Erica" :)
Thanks guys for the help!!!
Here are the pics from my final journal project that I had been telling all about.... that one is on the bottom and for lack of a more successful piece I put the bottles (2 less) in the WIP show.
I did like the presentation of them....I think it's what I like most about it all together.

My thinking process.... I'm throwing them all away!! Starting fresh:)
SO if you have seen these little buggers and wondering why..... they were for a drawing project. The size and scale is the purpose and grass was the name of the game here. I installed it in the courtyard off of the cantina in the middle of the grass patch! They were all bisque fired and white slipped. The contrast against the green with the white was actually pretty cool. No, I did not take a pic that day. sorry!

If anyone is interested ... you can find Jack's website at http://www.jacktroy.net/
I know you can look it up but I've got nothing to say and this gives me another blog:) Sorry Linda!
I got an email back from Jack Troy! He is interested in becoming my mentor which is a huge relief! Very excited for the fall~
Hey okay so here I am... filling up my studio space... lots of pots to choose from for the show but not at all attached to any of them. I'll be looking to keep producing all this week until I find THE ONE or several:)

Two thoughts....
I am combining my 1000 journal project and my "starting from scratch" studio work. After talking with Linda, I am focusing on one form-the vessel- and black and white slip instead of glaze. Jumping back into artist mode was more than overwhelming and left me lost as to where to start.
SO with this direction, I am creating these vessels to be used to display the journals that return to me describing the most creative aspect individuals offer to their partnership as a couple. How the audience will interact with this is still under construction...
So here is my appropriation for my drawing class....I appropriated from the Portrait of the Reverend Mother Maria Antonia de Rivera... The piece was painted in the eighteenth century- it was fashionable for Mexican families to have portraits painted of their daughters who were taking their final vows to become nuns... also known as Monjas Corondas. It wasn't until I read about the piece did the beauty come out. As I read it I made the relation to all people - maybe not going through extravagant processes of crowns and portraits but we all "crown" ourselves with devotion to something. Here I have my crowd crowned with their clothes, themselves, food, activities etc. The concept here expands a little further in that this woman painted has her years laid out- born in 1736, took vows in 1757, became prioress in 1791, and then died in 1806. It was a little depressing seeing how quickly your years can be lumped summed. How often do we go on about our way without thinking what we are summing up in the time we have?
It was great seeing Hide and Carol work together last week and learn about Hide's history as an artist. Beautiful work ( I was partial to his functional pieces:) It was not only encouraging seeing him create around us, but watching him form a bust from bottom up was good for me to see! Really interesting to see him process the goal of combining all his images while he was forming his features....

So first response paper finished! Storm King did prove to be handy:) No No it was a good day to soak in some sculpture! I wrote on this piece by Menashe Kadishman... it strangely represented carrying a lot of weight effortlessly to me... can you see it?

First Year Fumbles

So this is the SECOND blog address..... let's see if it works this time!
